The AAA Hall Of Fame’s 9th addition ceremony took place during the Triplemanía XXII event, on August 17th, 2014, at the Arena Ciudad de México. This figure is none other than the legendary Rayo de Jalisco, who had a prolific wrestling career that spanned over 40 years, cementing himself as one of the top stars of all time within the Mexican Lucha Libre.
El Rayo De Jalisco, whose real name is Don Maximino Linares, won many bet matches, where he defeated other legendary wrestlers of the time, such as Los Hermanos Muerte and Chino Chow.
He lost his mask in 1989, at the hands of the no less formidable wrestling legend, Blue Demon, in a match held at Monterrey, on one of the most important bet matches that ever took place in all history of the Mexican Lucha Libre. He, like many important wrestling figures of the time, also starred in several films.
With this act, the Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide Company pays homage to a legendary figure who, even after over 4 decades of prolific career on top of the rings, allowed himself the luxury of taking part at the early matches held by the AAA. His official retirement ceremony took place in July 16th, 1993, at the Centro de Espectáculos “Río Nilo”, in Tonalá, Jalisco.
